Hiatus

It's been forever! So much has changed.

I am now a Certified Nursing Assistant and work for a wonderful nursing home in Stillwater.  I am also currently taking classes at Century College towards an Associates Degree in Nursing.  I am still singing at church on the weekends, but I have taken a break from theatre until further notice.

Life is busy, busy, busy.  It's a big adjustment, having to wake up at 4:30 AM, not being a stay-at-home mom, having to study and write papers again...

It's a challenge, but I think I'm up to it!

The Nerd

I'm starting rehearsals next week for Larry Shue's The Nerd, performing at Lakeshore Players Theatre.  I am playing the part of Tansy McGinnis, the on-again-off-again girlfriend of main character Willum.  She's described as idealistic and perky.

I really loved the script the first time I read it a couple years ago and have since really wanted the chance to perform it.  I am humbled and excited to work with director Kevin T. Houle yet again (he directed me in Doubt, Don't Drink the Water, and a 10-Minute Play Festival).  I'm also privilaged to play opposite D.W. Surine, with whom I've acted in Don't Drink the Water, Axel & His Dog, and Fighting Mr. Right.

Now to prepare for my son's 4th birthday party tomorrow.  Anyone know how to draw a monster truck with frosting?

A Little Break

What a whirlwind Holiday season! I performed heavily with a cappella group DeCantus at some really fun venues like the Albertville Outlet Mall and the Centennial Lakes Office Park.  Surprisingly, I was not scheduled much this season at Presentation of Mary, so once my gigs with DeCantus were finished about a week before Christmas, I found myself with lots of free time for the first holiday season in memory! I took the opportunity to enjoy some traditions with my son: decorating the tree, baking cookies, and preparing a list for Santa. We celebrated with both families again this year and the food and festivities were not lacking!

I enjoyed the break, but am itching to jump back into a new project.  I'll be auditioning for a show, I've popped back up on the cantor schedule, and I'll be making another effort this Spring to keep the website updated, do some marketing, and see what I can do to get out there more as a performer.

I love to collaborate, and if anyone is looking for another voice to liven up their act, do a duet, or use for backup if you can't take a gig, I'm interested!

Hoping 2012 is full of growth and pleasant surprises!
